To receive both of these prayer initiatives, send an email to lakeviewprayer-subscribe@yahoogroups.com, and reply to the confirmation email.

If you would like to submit a prayer request to be included on the Prayer List, either 374-6556, ext. 0, put your request on a Communication Card, or e-mail office@lakeviewchurch.com. Let us remember to lift up one another in prayer.

What's Happening

Governance Board

New updates are now available from our Governance Board.
Governance Board

Easter Food Drive

Yellow hamper bags will be available in the lobby this week. Please take one and fill it with food donations for our Easter food drive and hamper program. We will be putting together Easter hampers for those in our community that could use a little extra help feeding their families at this time.

Staff Announcement

We regret to inform you that Shelly VanBinsbergen has recently given her resignation, and will be leaving the position of Care Ministry Director at the end of March. Shelly's commitment to social justice has been evident to us as we've watched the evolution of our Care Ministry programs, to better meet the needs of our local and global communities. Please join us as we wish her all the best in her future endeavors.

3rd Weekend Service

Early in February we proposed to the congregation the option for a 3rd weekend service (Sunday 11:30am). We gave people the opportunity each weekend to get involved by signing up on the sign-up sheets in the lobby or by emailing office@lakeviewchurch.com. Due to the responses we received, it was decided that we would hold off on adding a 3rd service until September.

30 Day Prayer Challenge

A grassroots group from last Sunday's information meeting called us all to a 30 Day Prayer Challenge. We as leaders endorse this call.

"These prayers are only suggestions to help us pray in unity for three different themes: Thankfulness, care for our pastors, staff and volunteers, and the church finances. The power of prayer is the power of God and the amazing gift that He wants to spend time with us more than we can possibly imagine."

This is a wonderful opportunity to join together in intentional prayer during the next month. If you would like to partner with us in prayer, please pick up a yellow Prayer Challenge sheet at the Info Desk or email office@lakeviewchurch.com for further details.

Small Group Resources

A listing of the Small Group Resources is always available at the Sign-Up Sheet area in the lobby. There are many different small group resources that may be of interest to you.

The NOOMA videos have now been moved to the Library. If you would like to borrow a NOOMA video to use with your Small Group, please check them out in the Library, either before or after the weekend services.

Expressions Cafe

Come with friends (or meet someone new) and reciprocate with us! Expressions is serving Organic Fair Trade Certified coffee - quality coffee that gives back, one SIP at a time. We're open Saturdays from 5:30-8:00pm, and Sundays from 9am - 11:30am. We offer a large selection of specialty drinks and pastries.

LifePlan Path

Over the past months, we've been working on the LifePlan Path. This is a project created by the Free Methodist Church in Canada with the purpose of setting the direction of the church for the next 3 year period. It is done with the prayerful involvement of the congregation so that we can discern the plans that God has for our church.

A significant amount of research was done regarding the current ministries of our church, as well as the needs in our community and entire city. Based on these findings, the congregation was invited to pray about what these findings meant for us as a church, and what 'next steps' we are to take together. These ideas were then shared at a brainstorming meeting, and six 'top' areas for focus were identified. They are:

- prayer
- small groups
- Lakeview Church being the center of the community (ie: like a community center)
- developing a sense of family and belonging, nurturing couples and families
- decentralized ministry
- nurturing couples and families

In the coming weeks, staff and lay leaders will be developing strategies to implement these ideas over the next months and years. Thank you for being a part of this important process! We look forward with anticipation to where God is leading us.

Questions to ask God. (Treasure Principle by Randy Alcorn)

Father, what's the eternal downside in giving as much as I can give to You now? In contrast, what's the eternal downside of minimizing my giving or delaying giving until later? Is there really danger in giving too much too soon? Or is the true danger giving too little too late?

"Whoever can be trusted with very little can also be trusted with much and whoever is dishonest with much. So if you have not been trustworthy in handling worldly wealth, who will trust you with true riches? And if you have not been trustworthy with someone else's property, who will give you property of your own?" - Luke 16:10-12

Care Ministry

Current Needs List

Care Network

The Care Network was created to supply a quick response when there is a need to be met in our community. As needs are made known to the Care Ministry - such as a ride to the doctor, a meal made or delivered, or assisting someone buying a pair of work boots - we send an email out to the Care Network, and those that are able to meet that need can respond. To be a part of this important network, simply email careATlakeviewchurch.com and indicate your willingness to be on our email list. Then just respond to any email you are able to help with, and someone from the Care Ministry will contact you. For more details, contact Shelly at 374-6556, ext. 244, or careATlakeviewchurch.com.

Missions Work Group

The Missions Work Group is accepting aluminium pie plates and pop tabs, band-aids, toothpaste & toothbrushes, sewing notions, lightweight fabric for quilt blocks, used whole envelopes with stamps, and Campbell's labels. There are drop-off bins for these items in the Power Hour Gallery as well as at the Lobby Info Centre.

Household Items or Furniture

We will not be able to accept household items or furniture without prior confirmation from the Care Ministry. Please call Shelly at 374-6556, ext 244, for approval or a list of agencies that can use these items.
