Frequently Asked Questions

1. What should I wear to church?

Wear whatever makes you feel comfortable. Some people get dressed up to come to church and others wear their jeans. You decide!

2. What happens during the service?

The programming of our services changes from week to week, but in general we have music (both performance & participatory), video, welcome/announcements and a Bible-based message. Often we have other creative or spiritual elements such as drama, Communion or Baptisms.

3. Do I have to sing or can I just listen?

You are free to do whatever feels comfortable for you – you can stand or stay seated, sing along with the words on the screen or just listen to the music team.

4. What programming is available for children?

Power Hour is our children’s programming for kids from birth to grade 5. This awesome ministry is led by volunteers who are screened, trained and passionate about teaching children. Groups are divided by age - Nursery for birth-23 months, Preschool for 2-4 year olds and age-specific groups for children in Kindergarten –grade 5. All programs take place during the weekend services.

5. Can my child stay with me during the service?

We know your kids would have fun in Power Hour (see question 4), but if you would prefer for your child to remain with you, we ask that you sit at the end of an aisle, near one of the doors, should you need to leave during the service.

6. If my friend/spouse/partner has a different belief, can he/she still come?

Yes, everyone is welcome at Lakeview Church. Invite family members, friends, your neighbours, or just come by yourself and meet some new people!

7. What does your church believe?

Every organization is defined by its mission and vision. At Lakeview Church, our mission is to reach out to seeking friends as we become committed, caring followers of Jesus Christ. Our vision is to become an authentic community of Christ-followers. You can find out more information under the heading About Us: Our Beliefs, Mission & Vision.

8. Communion? Can anyone take it? What do you have to know?

Communion is the sharing of bread and wine (grape juice) as a remembrance of Jesus’ sacrifice on the cross for our sins. All those who follow Jesus Christ and are walking with Him are welcome to take part in Communion.

9. Are there any activities that go on during the week?

There are many activities that take place at Lakeview Church during the week, such as M.O.M.S., Study and Support groups, ALPHA, etc. Check out the headings News & Events and Connecting for more information.

10. How do I find out more information about a particular ministry?

The easiest way to find what you’re looking for on our website is to type in the key word under Search. If you’re not sure what a particular ministry area is called, you can send a question to any of our staff listed under the heading About Us: Who We Are, Staff & Leadership and we will be happy to help you get connected. You can also email us at office@lakeviewchurch.com or just call the church at 374-6556.

11. Should I feel obligated to give something when the offering is taken?

We believe that God is the source of everything that we have, and as an expression of thankfulness for His generosity we encourage people to give back to God. There are different ways we can give to God including our time, talents, and money. Here at Lakeview we rely entirely on donations to pay our bills, ministry costs, and staffing needs. It’s only through the generosity of others that we can continue doing what we believe God is asking us to do. If you are planning on just visiting our church please don’t feel obligated to give money. However, if you choose to make Lakeview Church a place you regularly attend, please consider how you might be able to help us meet our on-going expenses. As to how much to give, we believe that is an individual decision. If you have questions about giving money to the church and how those funds are used, we would be happy to talk with you.
