Quebec Ministry

Nathan Umazekabiri, his wife Helen and their 5 children escaped from Rwanda at the time of the genocide, and Lakeview Church sponsored them to come to Saskatoon in 2002. A year later, Nathan, Helen and their youngest daughter Esperance moved to Montreal to pastor the St. Henri Free Methodist Church. As our missionaries in Quebec, they are helping to grow the Quebec ministry by leaps and bounds!

Today, as the FMCiC’s Ministry Development Facilitator for Quebec, Nathan’s focus is on developing leaders and nurturing new church plants through providing resources, training programs, and mentoring.  This determined focus has been rewarded as the Free Methodist Church in Canada has experienced exponential growth in Quebec – more than any other place in Canada.  In 2006 there were only four French speaking Free Methodist churches in Quebec; today there are nine churches at different stages of growth.
