Bridge On 20th Street
From the Bridge on 20th Website:
The Bridge on 20th is a street mission with a call for “God’s Body” to come together and share His unconditional love with the poor, the broken, and the lost.
Linda Chamagne's heart was transformed by God's grace. The Lord lead her from depression, anger and addiction to her calling to share His word and love. With every little step of faith taken, the Lord was faithful and The Bridge on 20th opened its doors on March 3rd, 1999, with a handful of people who believed in the vision and $120 investment.
We now operate with a board of directors, a small staff, and many precious volunteers. We continue with our previous activities as well as additional discipleship, mentoring, and relationship-building. Weddings, funerals, baptisms, baby dedications and prayer ministry were performed. In June 2003, we moved into a beautiful, newly renovated and equipped facility, on the corner of 20th Street and Avenue N. Since then our number of visitors has increased, our activities have increased, and our vision has increased.
We are a place of service evangelism, letting our acts of love be our witness. We are a non-profit, non-denominational, faith ministry; a Christian organization that responds compassionately to the needs of the inner city’s less fortunate through mobilizing and working with the church and the community.
We here at Lakeview are pleased to serve this fellowship centre in a variety of ways. Volunteers are needed to chop vegetables, wash dishes and serve soup. Volunteers are also needed to help at Kid’s Club, a weekly children’s program that takes place between 4:45pm and 6:15pm. We do crafts, learn about the amazing things that God does, eat, sing, play and hang out. We usually see between 15-30 kids who come to learn about God and experience His love.
If you are interested in volunteering in any of the programs at The Bridge, call 382-2855 and speak to their volunteer coordinator, Gail or visit the Bridge on 20th's website at www.thebridge20.com.
