At Lakeview Church, we believe that everyone is called to Care. Jesus asks us to "love our neighbours" and the Care Ministry is about doing just that - loving others. God is love, and as His children we want to embody His love by caring for others in practical, tangible ways. How do we see God in this world? He is made visible through our loving actions in our church, our community, and our world.
The primary purpose of Lakeview's Care Ministry isn't to build caring programs.our mission is to become a caring community. We don't want to be known as a church with a Care Ministry, but rather as a caring church. Our focus is on receiving God's love and then allowing that love to emanate from us, as from a city on a hill.
With that in mind, programs are useful in helping us to take initiative, get some experience and overcome any fears we may have in caring for others. At Lakeview, we identify three main areas of care: Core, Local, and Global, each of which is linked with various caring initiatives.
CORE CARE
Many people call Lakeview Church home and we want to treat each other like family. It's important to meet the practical needs of individuals and families in our core church community and we do this in many different ways.
LOCAL CARE
We are a small part of a larger community and we desire to extend a caring hand to Saskatoon and surrounding area. We believe that God's love includes all people and we have opened various doors into our community in order to share His love with others.
GLOBAL CARE
We are citizens of the world and as such we accept responsibility to play a part in easing global suffering. We want to nurture a worldwide perspective through both ongoing initiatives and annual events. |
