Tell us about your family?
I am the very proud older sister of 5 handsome, intelligent, energetic young men (relatively speaking when compared with their older sister) who are the loves of my life (and simultaneously just cause for having no children of my own just yet). I have the greatest mother/best friend in the whole world and not one, but two dads who lovingly avoid fixing things around my house.

If you were a superhero, what would your name be?
Nana Lou (and I would ready hilarious stories to children which would save them from literary ignorance)

On a scale of 1-10, how badly do you need coffee in the morning?
11 – I keep my savings account at Starbucks.

What’s your least favourite word, phrase or sentence?
Poo – I hate that word. Especially for something with such a wide variety of colourful synonyms.

Hypothetically speaking (because Saskatoon is of course the finest city in the world), if you could live anywhere else, where would that be?
In the ocean – today I think it’s the most fascinating place on earth. Did you know that coral is not a plant, but an animal? And that certain kinds of coral can send electrical shocks into predators? And that other kinds all share food through a web of connecting stomachs? (And that’s only coral!)

What’s your favourite holiday of the year?
Halloween…I LOVE to dress up.

What’s your favourite TV show?
TV? The last time I watched TV it was Fresh Prince of Bel-Air. I don’t really watch TV.

What’s your most embarrassing moment?
Most? I embarrass myself every day (usually bi-daily). The first incident which comes to mind however is the time I went shopping with one of my little men (my brother Mark). We were jaywalking across 1st Ave in front of Midtown and when I went to jump the tiny little 8in. chain fence outside the front doors I somehow entangled both of my feet - resulting in a rather impressive face plant.
But then there was the time at work when I had my skirt tucked into my pantyhose.
Or the time at university when I fell on a patch of ice and couldn’t get up because my backpack weighed too much.
Or the time I was running for mayor and when asked the question, “How do you feel about the use of nuclear energy.” I responded, “I do not believe in weapons of any kind.”
And the list goes on…

What recharges your batteries?
Science experiments – I just love them. Especially ones that involve petri dishes and bacteria.

What’s your favourite part about the ministry/job you do?
Hanging out with hilarious, imaginative, craft-doing, snot bubble blowing, pudding spilling, ball hurling, chaos creating kids. I love them so much I giggle out loud whenever I think about them and drive into things when I see them walking down the street. I’m totally crazy about them.

What’s the best movie you’ve seen in the last year?
Hmm…does it count if it was Girls Just Wanna Have Fun with Sara Jessica Parker? The first time I saw it was probably 15 years ago – but I just watched it last week and it’s awesome. Great soundtrack, outfits, hair. Two thumbs up.

How would you describe the Edmonton Oilers? A great team, or the greatest team? Please explain.
I have no idea what you are talking about. Great it is.

What’s the best book you’re read in the last year?
This makes me feel uncomfortable. I’d like to say it was Travelling Mercies by Ann Lamott, or Homer’s Iliad, but in reality it was Harry Potter 1,2,3,4,5, and 6. Please don’t judge me.

What’s your favorite food?
Pineapple. They are beautiful and delicious – delightful attributes for most things.

How did you come to know Christ?
Well first, he made me. Then there was some downtime during which time I avoided him like the plague. He’s lovely though, so I couldn’t really stay away. It’s a long story of pride and pride and more pride. Maybe it still is? Regardless, I eventually got over myself (kind of) and I can feel his grace all the way in to my bones when I’m at the Bridge holding some smelly little, snotty-nosed kid that God loves so much. I feel his mercy when I consider the fact that he loves that little kid enough that he made me want to go down to some soup kitchen (glue stick in hand) to do some stupid craft for an hour (nearly bursting with love for this little child) so that this mini person would know he is loved by his God. So no matter how distracted I get, I now know – for real and for sure.

Recent favourite sites on the web?
Microsoft office clip art web site. There is so much clip art. I just love clip art.
