Tell us about your family?
I have been married to Dwight for 9 years and we have two children (previous marriage). Josiah is 21, married and lives with her husband Chad in Caronport, SK. She and her husband both are going to school at Briercrest College and Seminary with the hope of getting their degrees (Josiah in Theology and Chad in Pastoral Ministry) and going on full-time ministry overseas.
Our son Giuseppe is 20 and he is our “hippie”. He loves life and lives it to the fullest. He is an avid soccer player, loves to be around people (especially girls!), and likes to hang around Mom and Dad!
If you were a superhero, what would your name be?
I’ve never been asked this question so I’ve never thought about it…but now that I’m thinking about it I can’t come up with an answer…
On a scale of 1-10, how badly do you need coffee in the morning?
Zero!
What’s your least favourite word, phrase or sentence?
“Like” and “Totally”
Hypothetically speaking (because Saskatoon is of course the finest city in the world), if you could live anywhere else, where would that be?
The first place that comes to my mind is New York City…I love that city!
What’s your favourite holiday of the year?
New Years…but in Ecuador…those people know how to party!
What’s your favourite TV show?
The Dog Whisperer
What’s your most embarrassing moment?
Far too long to describe, but if you want to hear about it give me a call…
What recharges your batteries?
Musica Latina y Fiestas
What’s your favourite part about the ministry/job you do?
Empowering people and watching them take risks of growth.
What’s the best movie you’ve seen in the last year?
I love documentaries, and two of my favorites this year are “Rize” and “Children of Brothels”
How would you describe the Edmonton Oilers? A great team, or the greatest team? Please explain.
I think they are a great team…but that’s just because I’ve actually seen them live in Edmonton…I also like them because Dwight loves that team…but I personally have no strong allegiances neither to the team or the sport. She said it, great.
What’s the best book you’re read in the last year?
I love to read and so I have many favorites that I’ve read this year. If I had to choose then I would have to say two… “Free of Charge” by Volf and “Winning with People” by Maxwell…then there’s “Practitioners” by Erwin McManus, “The Secret Message of Jesus” by McLaren, “Missing the Point” by Campolo and McLaren, “Emerging Church” by Kimball, “Can you Hear Me” by Jersak, “Sacred Thirst” by Barnes, etc, etc, etc….and who can forget Oprah…thought I’d throw that one out to you too.
What’s your favorite food?
Chimichangas, Colada Morada, Chugchuca, Arroz con Pollo, Fanesca, Pupusas, Huevos Rancheros, Ceviche…all Hispanic Dishes
How did you come to know Christ?
I came to follow the Lord Jesus when I was 15 and it was through the faithful and patient work of missionaries in Quito, Ecuador. This was the best decision I ever made. As I’ve learned more about God I have fallen in love with Him and can’t imagine my life without acknowledging His ever-present, merciful involvement.
